Match preview | Glos v Nottinghamshire | Royal London Cup
9 August 2022
Gloucestershire return to action on Wednesday hoping to make it two Royal London Cup wins from two when they host Nottinghamshire at the Seat Unique Stadium.
Victorious last time out thanks to an inspired individual performance from captain Jack Taylor, Glos racked up their first win in this season’s competition, beating Somerset by five wickets to take the bragging rights in the West Country derby.
Fresh from signing a two-year contract extension at the beginning of August, Taylor took career-best List A figures of 4/31 before a flawless 77 not out guided The Shire to victory in front of the Glos faithful.
Taylor was supported in the run chase by Marcus Harris, whose 59 signified a return to form at a vital time for the Australian.
An impressive display by the Glos bowling unit limited Somerset to 199 all out, which the away side would have taken at 112/7 when Peter Siddle arrived at the crease.
Tom Smith’s role in the middle overs proved crucial as the left-arm spinner took 2/29 off his 10 overs. Zafar Gohar, Paul van Meekeren and Jared Warner were also in the wickets.
Both sides return to action off the back of wins against Somerset, as Notts followed up their opening day win against Sussex with a win at Taunton.
Former Glos loanee Zak Chappell took three wickets at Somerset, helping the Outlaws win by 10 wickets.
