Team news
Dale Benkenstein makes one addition to the squad that travelled to Kent with four-day skipper Graeme van Buuren added to the group after a hamstring injury kept him out of Gloucestershire’s first Blast match.
If passed fit on Friday, van Buuren could play his first T20 match for the Shire since the summer of 2021 after missing the entirety of last year’s competition through injury.
Your 15-man Gloucestershire squad to face Glamorgan:
Last time out
Glos will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing night in Canterbury on Wednesday when they fell to a seven-wicket defeat despite a sublime 26-ball half-century from Chris Dent who looked imperious at the top of the Shire order.
Three wickets from Tom Smith, including his 125th T20 scalp for the Club, was not enough to stop Kent from knocking off 114 with 6.3 overs to spare.
Our opponents
Glamorgan play their first match of the South Group on Friday but will be without 2022 leading wicket-taker Michael Hogan who faced Glos for his new side Kent yesterday.
Captained by Kiran Carlson in the absence of the injured David Lloyd, Glamorgan can still call upon the consistency of Sam Northeast, the top run scorer for the Welsh side in 2022 with 510 runs.
Overseas players Michael Neser and Colin Ingram also add international experience to a Glamorgan side looking to improve on their sixth-place finish in the South Group last season.
Last meeting
Glos versus Glamorgan in Bristol was abandoned without a ball being bowled last season, but the fixture in Cardiff two weeks earlier ended with Gloucestershire the victors.
James Bracey’s 63 opening the batting in that fixture helped Shire to a five-wicket win with an over to spare. An opening stand of 58 together with Miles Hammond set the tone for Glos after economical spells from David Payne, Tom Smith and Jack Taylor had restricted Glamorgan to 158/8.
