Marcus Harris named in Australia’s Ashes and World Test Championship Final squad
19 April 2023
Gloucestershire opener Marcus Harris has been selected in Australia’s squad for the World Test Championship Final and first two Ashes Tests in England.
Having made his Test debut in 2018, Harris last turned out for his national side against England in the Sydney Ashes Test in January 2022. The 30-year-old’s reselection for Australia comes after he scored 59 and 148 vs Glamorgan for Gloucestershire in the opening match round of the LV= Insurance County Championship Division Two, earlier this month.
The 17-man Australia squad covers the World Test Championship final against India at The Oval on June 7-11 and the opening two Ashes Tests, starting at Edgbaston on Friday, June 16.
Harris will be available to play in all of Gloucestershire’s remaining County Championship matches in April and May, before linking up with captain Pat Cummins and the rest of the Australia squad.
Steve Snell, Performance Director at Gloucestershire Cricket, said:
“We’re delighted for Marcus. He’s been excellent for us ever since he signed and we’ve no doubt he’ll be able to contribute for Australia and is in a good space to go and enjoy the Ashes.
“We’re all very excited to see what Marcus can do on the international stage and wish him the best of luck for his time with Australia.”
