GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET CLUB SHOWS OFF ITS NEW FACILITIES

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club recently invited local councillors on a tour of its improved facilities at the Bristol County Ground, which are now complete after 18 months of development work.

The new ‘Bristol Pavilion’ is a key part of the redevelopment and is already establishing itself as a leading conference and events venue; perfectly suited for community events, meetings, parties, weddings and much more.

Along with greatly improved permanent seating there is also a new state-of-the-art media centre and other visitor improvements, all of which have helped to secure International cricket in the heart of Bristol.  On Monday 25 August, Gloucestershire Cricket will be hosting England v India in the first Royal London One-Day International of a five match series.  This match will be watched by an expected capacity crowd of 16,000 at the Bristol County Ground, with a global TV audience of 100 million people.

Councillor Gus Hoyt, Assistant Mayor with responsibilities for sport and leisure said: “It was a great pleasure and delight to visit Gloucestershire County Cricket Club’s excellent new ground in the heart of North Bristol.  The newly expanded Bristol Pavilion will allow the club to really play its role on the stage of International Cricket.”

Will Brown, CEO Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, said: “We wanted to meet with local councillors to show them the fantastic work that has been carried out over the last 18 months.  We are really grateful to local people for their understanding while the work has taken place and all those involved in making these changes to the club a complete success, including Bristol City Council without whose support it would never have happened.”

Another local ward member attending, Councillor Rob Telford, said: “It was great to visit Gloucestershire County Cricket Club to hear all about their work in the local community.  They will be striving to get more children and young people interested and playing cricket in Bristol.”
