Liv Daniels appointed captain of Gloucestershire Women
16 April 2025
Gloucestershire Women begin their 2025 season at the Seat Unique Stadium on Saturday, and Head Coach Lauren Rowles has announced that all-rounder Liv Daniels will captain the side this season.
Daniels' appointment is the latest step in a fast-rising career. She joined the Gloucestershire Girls Pathway at the age of 13, and by 15, she had been selected for the Gloucestershire EPP (Emerging Player Programme), where her natural leadership and technical maturity began to shine.
On receiving the news from Lauren Rowles, Daniels said:
“I was walking home when I got a call from our Head Coach. At first, I was worried I’d missed something – but then she offered me the captaincy. I was absolutely buzzing!”
“It’s something that's been a dream of mine. I'm still quite young so it’s definitely going to be a challenge, but I’m so excited to get going.”
Her development continued with two standout international tours to Sri Lanka with the Gloucestershire U18 squad, first in 2022 and then again in 2024.
The 2024 season proved to be a breakout year: Daniels captained the Gloucestershire under-18s, represented the South West in the School Games, and earned a place in the Western Storm Academy, marking her out as one of the region’s brightest prospects.
As the 2025 season kicks off Gloucestershire’s first as a Tier 2 team in the restructured women’s domestic setup, Daniels has also been selected for the Glamorgan Tier 1 Academy, offering further elite-level development.
The new captain also spoke about the Women's first game against Derbyshire on Saturday 19 April:
“Tier 2 cricket is completely new, so none of us really know what to expect – but that makes it even more exciting. As soon as we started training on grass, I had that feeling of, ‘okay, get me on the pitch!'
“Hopefully, we can show both new and old Gloucestershire fans what women’s cricket can look like – and just how exciting it can be.”
Now appointed first team captain, Daniels is set to lead Gloucestershire Women into a new era, the most exciting chapter of her career to date.
