Liddle rejoins Netherlands for T20 World Cup Qualifiers
3 October 2019
Experienced Gloucestershire seamer Chris Liddle will once again be joining up with the Netherlands national cricket team (KNCB) ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Dubai.
Liddle has been a part of the KNCB setup since 2018 when he started working with the team as bowling consultant to players including Ryan ten Doeschate, Colin Ackermann and Roelof van der Merwe.
Netherland’s quest to the T20 World Cup begins with a trip to Oman for a pentangular series with Ireland, Nepal, Hong Kong and hosts Oman before moving on to Dubai for the qualifiers.
They will be the second ranked nation in a group that includes Scotland, Papua New Guinea, Namibia, Singapore, Kenya and Bermuda. The top two teams in each group automatically qualify for the main tournament but with four more places up for grabs in the qualifiers the Dutch will be confident of qualification.
Chris shared his excitement about the prospects of the future for the Netherlands national team:
“I’m really excited about the upcoming month and being back with the Netherlands team in my assistant coach role.
We have the T20 World Cup qualifiers in Dubai but firstly a trip to Oman to take part in a 5 nations T20 series. Being part of a team that’s aiming for qualification for the T20 World Cup in Australia is incredibly exciting and something I’m proud to be a part of.”
The Netherlands next match will be against Ireland in Oman on Saturday 5th October, a team they recently beat in the Ireland Tri-Nation Series.
