Liam Has Six Appeal At Leicester

27 August 2012

Liam Norwell claimed career-best one-day figures of 6-52 before Gloucestershire's Clydesdale Bank 40 clash with Leicestershire at Grace Road was abandoned because of rain.

The young seamer took the wickets of Josh Cobb, Will Jones, Matthew Boyce, Wayne White, Ned Eckersley and Tom Wells as the home side ran up 264-all out.

Benny Howell returned 2-26 from six overs, but his excellent effort was eclipsed by Norwell in the final CB40 Group A match of the campaign.

What might have developed into a good contest was ruined by the waather, which brought play to a halt after just four overs of Gloucestershire's reply. They had reached 19-1.

The no-result meant both teams took one point. Gloucestershire finished third in the group on 12 points, having won five and lost five of their 12 games, the other two being abandoned.

Alex Gidman and his team faced a long trip north after the match for the LV=County Championship clash with Yorkshire at Scarborough, which starts tomorrow.
