Let's Make Bristol A Fortress - Michael

6 May 2013

Michael Klinger is calling on his Gloucestershire side to make the County Ground a feared venue for opposition teams - starting with Hampshire in the LV=County Championhsip match that begins on Wednesday.

Following the excellent four-day win over Leicestershire at Grace Road, the skipper is optimistic that the team can step up on the first home Championship display of the season against Northants.

"Hampshire have a strong squad so we know we are in for a tough game," Michael told this website.

"But we can draw a lot of encouragement from the way we played at Leicester and now we need a good performance in front of our own fans.

"It is important to capitalise on home advantage and if we play well I hope it will lead to us making Bristol a very difficult place for opponents to visit."

With Ian Saxelby, Paul Muchall, James Fuller and Liam Norwell still on the injured list, Gloucestershire are set to pick from the same squad involved in the Championship game at Grace Road.

Already this week, the team have enjoyed a resounding win over the Unicorns in the YB40 competition and Michael wants to build on that result.

"We executed our skills really well in that game," he said. "Against Northants we came up against a side who played more maturely than we did and we need to learn quickly from that experience."
