Leg spinner Ed Middleton signs two-year contract extension at Glos

Up-and-coming leg spinner Ed Middleton has signed a two-year contract extension at Gloucestershire Cricket through to 2026.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a new contract having made several first-team appearances for Gloucestershire since signing his first contract with the Club in May 2023.

Middleton made his first-class debut for the Shire against Derbyshire in September last year, a match in which he finished with figures of 1-59 from 19 overs and scored an impressive 39 not out, Middleton has featured in a handful of first-class matches.

His best bowling innings to date came against Leicestershire, in May, when he claimed three wickets for 92 runs in a drawn match that saw him take five wickets in total.

A product of Oxford UCCE and Devon CCC, Middleton has nine first-class wickets in five matches.

Speaking of his excitement at extending his contract at Glos, Middleton said: “I’m delighted to extend my time with Gloucestershire, it’s great to have the support and backing of the Club and I’m really looking forward to the future here.

“We’ve got a really strong squad and it’s exciting to be part of that as we continue to develop and push for silverware.”
