Will Strikes Twice Before Rain Sets In
17 September 2013
Will Gidman claimed two early wickets before bad light and rain restricted play to just ten overs on the opening day of the LV=County Championship match with Lancashire at Bristol.
The visitors were 33-2 when the weather intervened after being put in to bat when Michael Klinger won the toss on a heavily overcast morning.
Gidman struck first with the sixth ball of the day, having opener Paul Horton caught behind by Gareth Roderick, one-handed high to his right.
Then in his next over Will uprooted the middle stump of Ashwell Prince, also before he had scored to make the total 6-2.
Luis Reece and Karl Brown steadied the Lancashire ship, but it was still an encouraging start by Gloucestershire against the Second Division champions elect.
The rain became more persistent and play was subsequently abandoned for the day at 3.00 pm.
The forecast for Wednesday looks much more settled and both teams look forward to a full day's cricket.
