Lancashire's Danny Lamb signs for Glos on an initial short-term loan deal

Gloucestershire Cricket are delighted to announce the signing of Lancashire all-rounder Danny Lamb on an initial short-term loan deal.
Lamb played in Lancashire Lightning’s opening Vitality Blast fixture against Derbyshire Falcons, taking the key wicket of Wayne Madsen as Lightning won the opening fixture of the competition.
In the 2022 Vitality Blast, Lamb played all 17 games for Lancashire as they reached the final. The 27-year-old took three wickets total on Finals Day as the Lightning fell agonisingly short in the final, losing by one run to Hampshire at Edgbaston.
Lamb will be immediately available for Gloucestershire’s next fixture against Essex Eagles on Tuesday evening and will wear the number 26 shirt.
In T20 cricket, the right-arm seamer has taken 41 wickets in 52 games at an average of 27.53 and also adds runs to Gloucestershire’s lower-order, averaging 12.77 at a strike rate of 103.13
Lamb will also be available for Shire’s next four-day fixture against Leicestershire beginning on Sunday 11 June. The right-hander averages 27.20 with the bat in red-ball cricket and boasts a first-class high score of 125. He also has 48 wickets in 23 games at a tick over 30 for Lancashire in the longer format.
Performance Director at Gloucestershire Cricket, Steve Snell, said:
“Danny is a player we’ve been tracking for a period of time and with a few injuries around, particularly in the bowling all-rounder spot, Danny will enhance our squad and the competition for places in that area.
“The turnaround between games in this competition is so tight, and player recovery is limited, meaning that the utilisation of a quality squad of players on the field is essential.
“I appreciate the flexibility of Lancashire to make this happen so swiftly and it’s a great opportunity for Danny to play some first-team cricket and further showcase what he can do.”
You can watch Gloucestershire’s new signing in action at the Seat Unique Stadium this weekend when the Club play Surrey on Friday evening before Sunday’s match against Middlesex.
