Gloucestershire cancel preseason tour to La Manga
13 March 2020
Gloucestershire’s preseason training camp in La Manga has been cancelled due to the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The county has made the decision based on the advice from relevant health authorities and experts.
The squad were expected to fly out to Spain on the 18 March for a training camp and a series of practice matches against Glamorgan before returning to Bristol on the 27 March.
Gloucestershire Cricket Chief Executive Will Brown said: ““The welfare of our employees and players is paramount to all at Gloucestershire Cricket. As such we think it is not advisable for our tour to go ahead to La Manga at this time.
We would like to thank the La Manga resort, the PCA and all of the coaching and playing squads for all of their support and understanding and we look forward to returning to La Manga next year.”
Gloucestershire’s preseason fixture against Cardiff MCCU currently remains unaffected at this stage, however the club will send out regular information to members and supporters in accordance with guidance from the relevant authorities.
