KLINGER TAKES SECOND SPOT IN FTI MVP RANKINGS
19 August 2013
Gloucestershire Captain stars again with the bat
Gloucestershire’s Captain, Michael Klinger, has moved into second place in the FTI Most Valuable Player Rankings following his 87 against Glamorgan yesterday at the Bristol County Ground in the Yorkshire Bank 40.
Michael, who now has more points than any other batsman in county cricket, faced 99 balls to reach his total and in doing so scored 34.66% of Gloucestershire’s overall total.
Along the way he hit nine fours at a strike-rate of 87.87 and accumulated 20.17 points to keep the pressure firmly on Nottinghamshire’s Samit Patel in the race for the £10,000 prize.
Klinger has 399.58 batting points for the season, at an average of 13.96 per match, despite being awarded 20 per cent less in four day games because Gloucestershire are in Division Two of the LV=CC.
His nearest challenger in the batting table is Michael Carberry, who is currently 83.11 points worse off.
The FTI MVP rankings awards points for every run scored, wicket taken and catch held in all forms of the game.
Bowlers receive higher marks for good economy rates, bowling maidens and for dismissing the top order, whilst batsmen are rewarded for high run rates and the percentage of the team’s runs they hit.
There are now more points across all formats for those notching 40 and 50 per cent of a team’s total, for top order batsmen, in recognition of their greater challenge against the new ball, and for those who hit big hundreds.
Included in the table below are Ben Stokes, David Willey (Finals Day FLt20 Man of the Match) and Chris Jordan who are named in the England Lions squad who will be playing at the Bristol County Ground tomorrow v Bangladesh A. Advance tickets for this match are on sale until 5.00 pm today via the club's website. CLICK HERE https://www.eticketing.co.uk/glosccc/details/event.aspx?itemref=1076 to buy your tickets.
