Klinger Ashes Hopes Hit By Swann
8 November 2013
Michael Klinger's hopes of forcing his way into Australia's team for the forthcoming Ashes Series against England were dealt a blow by Graeme Swann at Hobart.
The Gloucestershire captain was hoping for a big score in the four-day match between Australia A and the tourists, but fell lbw to Swann on the final day for 29.
Michael's eyes must have lit up when examining a pitch that allowed England to run up 318 without loss on the opening day, Alastair Cook and Michael Carberry scoring centuries.
But rain then washed out days two and three and when it finally relented Cook decided to bat on until declaring on 430-7, Joe Root contributing 58 not out.
Michael finally got his chance when opening the Australia A reply and hit 5 fours in his 62-ball innings, which occupied just over an hour and a half.
The hosts had reached 119-3 when the match ended in an inevitable draw.
