KENT v GLOUCESTERSHIRE - RAIN PREVENTS PLAY ON DAY TWO
15 September 2015
Despite the best conditions of the match to date, play was abandoned for the day in Canterbury where heavy overnight rain ruled out day two of our LV= County Championship clash with Kent at Canterbury.
Mopping up was once again the order of the day at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence where, despite the best efforts of the groundstaff, a sodden 10-metre wide patch of outfield at the Pavilion End failed to dry sufficiently.
ECB match umpires David Millns and Paul Baldwin inspected conditions on six separate occasions before deciding to call things off with Kent still marooned on their opening day total of 67 for one with Sean Dickson (31*) and Joe Denly (9*) their unbeaten batsmen.
Daniel Bell-Drummond, the Kent opener, was the sole casualty of the match to date, falling lbw to David Payne for 22 when shouldering arms to an in-swinger.
