Kane Stands Firm Against Yorkshire
10 May 2012
Kane Williamson to give another demonstration of his international quality with an outstanding innings on a rain-affected second day of the LV=County Championship game with Yorkshire at Bristol.
Gloucestershire’s overseas signing hit an unbeaten 89 in a first inning score of 165 for two to follow up his 128 in the previous four-day game against Derbyshire.
Chris Dent scored 62 and shared in a second wicket stand of 146 after Yorkshire had won the toss and elected to field in heavily overcast conditions.
The start was delayed until noon by more overnight rain. When Benny Howell was caught in the slips for four with only nine runs on the board Gloucestershire looked to be in for a tough day.
But both Williamson and Dent survived early chances off Tim Bresnan before batted with increasing assurance as their stand developed.
Williamson was first to his fifty off 90 balls with 5 fours and a pulled six off Anthony McGrath, while Dent reached his half-century off 122 deliveries, with 8 fours, before being pinned lbw on the back foot by Steven Patterson.
