James Bracey signs contract with Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire Cricket is delighted to announce that Bristol born batsman and wicketkeeper James Bracey has signed a contract with the club, keeping him at Gloucestershire until the end of the 2019 season.

The 20-year-old broke into the first team last year, featuring regularly towards the end of the Specsavers County Championship campaign.

His most impressive performance of the season was against rivals Glamorgan at the SSE SWALEC in September. He ended with an impressive 156, which included 19x fours and 2x sixes. James finished with a first-class average of 51.44 in 2017.

Speaking on his contract, James said: “I’m delighted to be signing my first professional contract, especially the fact it is with my home county. It’s something I’ve always worked very hard for and I’m grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been given with Gloucestershire, the GCB, Winterbourne CC and Bristol CC.

I thoroughly look forward to the new challenges that will come with being a full-time professional and I’m confident that the young group we have here are capable of being very successful on the field.”

Bracey, who is in his last year of University will be joining up with the squad full-time at the end of his studies.

Gloucestershire Head Coach Richard Dawson said: “James had an excellent end to the 2017 season and showed the players and supporters the potential that he has. Therefore, I am delighted that he has signed a two-year contract with Gloucestershire where he can continue to improve and build on this talent.

Keeping our best homegrown young talent is a major goal and doing this will help continue to improve the team over the coming seasons.”
