So far winter training for me has consisted of a lot of hard work and some very early mornings!  It’s been great to get back into the swing of things after having six weeks laying low at home after my successful shoulder operation.

I had to report back into training a week earlier than the rest of the lads at the beginning of November to work with the Physio, Steve Griffin, to get my shoulder range and strength in a position where I could start cricket training again.

My bowling is my priority at the moment and I have been back working with Richard Dawson on it for about 4 weeks now.  We are all positive that I am close to going to Loughborough and getting it tested again.

I started back hitting some balls last week which was nice, because the novelty of feeding the machines for all the other lads was starting to wear thin!

I also have a few things going on outside of training this winter which makes for a nice change from day-to-day in the changing room.

The Commercial Team, along with Liam Norwell and myself, were invited to Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham & Gloucester’s annual 'Question of Sport' evening.

This was a great evening to be part of and we were invited there along with some other sports stars including ex-England Rugby International, Mike Tindall, and Team GB Hockey Player Ashleigh Ball (who represented us in London 2012).

I will also be doing some work experience post-Christmas with our Commercial Team at the ground.  This pairs up nicely with the course I am looking to complete this winter in Tourism, Marketing and Management so this should provide me with some valuable experience, as well as a bit of banter with the staff!

I'm now really starting to look forward to the season getting underway, as I imagine all of you are.  In the meantime, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
