Jack Has Character To Win Through - Bracewell

7 March 2014

John Bracewell is backing Jack Taylor to win the battle to relaunch his Gloucestershire career this summer.

The young off-spinner, who was banned from bowling last summer after twice having his action reported, is ready to challenge for a first team place again after passing an ECB test on it last month.

Director of Cricket Bracewell is full of praise for Jack’s efforts to remodel his action, which involved months of hard work ahead of the testing process.

And, while warning that there are still hurdles to cross, John is confident that Jack has the necessary levels of determination and character to overcome them.

He told this website: “I’m delighted for Jack that the test is behind him and he came through it successfully.

“He has put in a lot of hard work to get to this stage and a lot more lies ahead, maintaining his new action, which he is doing, and overcoming the trauma this experience has caused him.

“It put him under a lot of stress and we have been working hard with him in terms of trying to get him to relax and enjoy the moment now that he has passed the necessary test.

“He then has to get in the nets and start to become competitive again. He is a competitive soul by nature, so I am sure he will come through.

“Since he has come back from the testing we have noticed that his pace is getting stronger all the time

“That means he is starting to get more confident about letting the ball go, which is an excellent sign.”
