Introducing the Thatchers Bar
3 September 2020
Gloucestershire Cricket are proud to introduce the latest addition to the Bristol County Ground: The new Thatchers Bar, created to provide Members, supporters, and visitors a greatly enhanced experience.
The bar, formally known as the Hammond Bar, warmly welcomes fourth generation cidermaker Thatchers Cider as its official partner for the next four years.
Following an extensive renovation and refurbishment, spectators will be able to enjoy a bespoke decking area located directly outside, ensuring they have a place to view cricket both inside and out, whilst the outdoor staircases have been relocated so as to provide uninhibited views across the playing area from both inside and outside the Thatchers Bar. To commemorate the partnership, a huge timeline highlighting key moments in the Club’s 150-year history has been installed alongside key moments in Thatchers history.
The Club has also installed additional digital TVs which will showcase live sport alongside the Gloucestershire Cricket ball-by-ball online stream.
The bar will serve refreshments including Thatchers Gold & Haze alongside soft drinks and hot beverages that will be available to purchase from the Café also located within the spacious area.
Street Artist Silent Hobo, who has been busy painting more murals at the Bristol County Ground, has also provided colour by incorporating cricket and street art into his latest creation, located within the Thatchers Bar.
Speaking on the revamped and improved facility, Gloucestershire Cricket Commercial Director Neil Priscott said: “We are really proud of The Thatchers Bar; it looks absolutely incredible and is a brilliant addition to the Bristol County Ground. We are confident that Gloucestershire Cricket members and supporters, together with all our conference and events visitors, will enjoy the space that has been created and the general décor of the area.
Thatchers have been a terrific support on this project and our partnership with them goes from strength to strength. We really look forward to throwing the Thatchers Bar doors open to the public as soon as we are able to do so.”
Philip McTeer, Head of Marketing from Thatchers Cider added:
“As a local family business we’ve been a long-term supporter of Gloucestershire Cricket and welcome the chance to become a bigger part of match days with the Thatchers Bar and extending to all the other private parties, events and conferences to give a perfect taste of Bristol.
“We think the new décor looks absolutely amazing, and we’re sure there are many memorable times to be had enjoying a pint of cider and watching the cricket from the comfort of the new bar.”
The Thatchers Bar offers an exciting additional facility to the Bristol County ground and this brilliant space is also available to hire for private parties, events & meetings alongside the Bristol Pavilions already well-established conference & event facilities.
