GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET CLUB HONOURED WITH A VINTAGE CRICKET CAKE TRIBUTE AT THE OPENING OF THE NEW OAK FURNITURE LAND SUPERSTORE IN CHELTENHAM.

The Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club (GCCC) were honored by Oak Furniture Land’s Cheltenham store as the store celebrated the opening of their first superstore in Cheltenham on 2 August.

Oak Furniture Land, the UK’s largest retailer of solid hardwood furniture, commissioned the vintage themed cricket cake to show its support of the festival in Cheltenham and to help raise awareness of Gloucestershire’s Cricket Academy and the work that GCCC does to support aspiring cricketers.

Lizzie Archer, Corporate Sales Manager, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club said: “The Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival is the oldest running cricket festival on an outfield in the world. The community spirit makes the Festival extra special each year and we are delighted that the Cheltenham Oak Furniture Land store is donating the cricket themed cake to us.  It will be used to raise funds to support the work of the Academy.  At Gloucestershire County Cricket Club we strive to provide an excellent Academy which can be seen on the field in the quality of our young players.”

The amazing vintage cricket cake sculpture (pictured) has been designed by acclaimed Cake Artist Annabel de Vetten of Conjurer’s Kitchen and CakeBomb www.conjurerskitchen.com.  It arrived at the Bristol County Ground on Tuesday 5 August ahead of Gloucestershire’s Royal London One-Day Cup match v Leicestershire.  The cake will be cut up and slices sold at 3.00 pm in the Optimum Sports Bar to raise additional funds for the Gloucestershire Cricket Academy.
