Hot weather precautions for day one of Cheltenham Cricket Festival
18 July 2022
Due to the extreme hot weather conditions forecast for day one of the Cheltenham Cricket Festival tomorrow (Tuesday), the end of play has been moved forward by 90 minutes to 4:30pm.
The decision has been taken in unison by both Gloucestershire and Hampshire in the interest of spectator and player welfare, to allow everyone in attendance to avoid the extreme heat that is expected towards the end of the day.
The Club has acted in line with advice from the ECB to alter the hours of play for the match v Hampshire tomorrow, meaning the new hours of play are now as follows:
The start of play will remain at 11am and will be followed by three 90 minute sessions, with the lunch and tea intervals remaining as 40 minutes and 20 minutes respectively.
Start of play - 11am
Lunch - 12:30pm
Tea - 2:40pm
Close of play - 4:30pm
To make up for time lost on Tuesday, an extra 30 minutes will be added to days two, three and four with morning and afternoon sessions of 2hr 15min in length and an evening session of 2hrs in length.
For those attending the Festival this week, a Visitor Information piece will be published on the Glos Cricket website later today.
Thank you for your co-operation and understanding, we look forward to welcoming you to Cheltenham for another year of Festival cricket.
