Herring and Montgomery released

Cameron Herring and Robbie Montgomery have left Gloucestershire after the club decided not to renew their contracts.

Wicketkeeper Herring, 21, made 15 appearances for the county in all competitions while allrounder Montgomery, also 21, played in one T20 match.

Neither player featured for the First Team in 2015.

Gloucestershire head coach Richard Dawson said: “Both Cameron and Robbie were committed, hardworking members of the squad both on and off the pitch and everyone at the club would like to thank both of the players for their contributions to Gloucestershire.

“We wish them all the best for the future in whatever they decide to do.”

Herring had been with the club since 2011 after impressing in club cricket in his native Wales. He spent a year on the Academy before signing professional terms in 2012.

He played in 11 First Class matches and four T20s, with a top score of 114 not out against Cardiff MCCU in 2014.

Montgomery was born in Taunton but grew up in Perth, representing Western Australia in junior cricket before returning to the UK.

He trialled with Gloucestershire in 2014 and made his debut against Glamorgan in theT20 later that same summer and was awarded a one-year contract at end of the season.
