Pakistan will be England’s first opponents of the home international season with their tour featuring five Royal London One-Day Internationals and a Vitality IT20 as both countries prepare for the ICC Cricket World Cup which starts on May 30th, 2019.

England are currently the highest ranked One Day International side in the world with Pakistan sitting in sixth place.

Pakistan have emerged victorious in the last two ODI matches between the two sides however, one of those victories came in the last game of a five-game series England won 4-1.

Coincidentally in both of those victories, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl, changing their strategy from the previous outings.

50 over International cricket returns to Bristol for the first time in over a year and a half, the last match resulting in an England win over West Indies. Joe Root scored 84 runs from 79 balls that day and Liam Plunkett will be hoping to repeat his success by picking up another fifer.

England take on Pakistan off the back of a series draw with West Indies in March. Jofra Archer will be out to impress against Pakistan having not been featured in England’s preliminary 15-man World Cup squad. The match-up in Bristol is the third of five and will be pivotal in deciding the outcome of the series.

England 17-man ODI squad versus Pakistan:

Eoin Morgan (c) (Middlesex), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jofra Archer (Sussex), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Tom Curran (Surrey), Joe Denly (Kent), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Liam Plunkett (Surrey), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ben Stokes (Durham), James Vince (Hampshire), David Willey (Yorkshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham).

The Pakistan side to face England will include fast bowler Mohammad Amir who was omitted from their World Cup squad. The last time the Pakistani faced England, he took three wickets in 10 overs.

The English batsmen will not be pleased to see Hasan Ali again after he took out three of England’s top order in their last head to head along with four wickets the game before. On the other side of the ball, Babar Azam will be Pakistan’s biggest threat alongside captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to watch the greatest cricketers battle it out under floodlights in Bristol.
