Following Somerset’s first T20 victory in Bristol since 2015, Gloucestershire will need to get back to winning ways to avoid dropping out of the top four spots in the South Group.
Gloucestershire, who had been on a four-match win streak with two abandonments intertwined, will be looking to secure their place in the Vitality Blast quarterfinal sooner rather than later with Surrey and Somerset still to play in the final two group fixtures.
The two sides have yet to play this year after a washout at the Bristol County Ground sent Hampshire back to Southampton with what would have felt like a point gained.
The Hawks are rock bottom of the South Group with just one win from their six matches played. That solitary victory came against Essex at the start of the Blast campaign when the 2019 winners were yet to hit their stride.
David Payne, who has taken 10 wickets in the competition so far for The Shire, will not be travelling to Southampton with the squad. He is being rested ahead of what will be a busy Cheltenham Cricket Festival.
Fellow left-arm seamer Matt Taylor is likely to feature in the XI in place of Payne. Graeme van Buuren may also find his way into the team should Dan Worrall also be given a rest ahead of the Festival.
Youngsters Dom Goodman and Ollie Price have also been included in the matchday squad.
The Gloucestershire squad heading to Southampton:
Colin de Grandhomme could be one to watch out for in the Hawks team. He smashed 66 off 34 balls and took two wickets on his debut against Somerset but had a relatively quiet match against Surrey.
20-year-old Scott Currie has had a fantastic start to his campaign taking a career best 4/31 at Taunton and following that up with 3/21 against Surrey at the Ageas Bowl.
Youth is certainly the theme for the Hawks with teenagers Toby Albert and Tom Prest also featuring in the home side’s squad.
Hampshire Hawks’s 13-man squad for tonight’s match:
James Vince (c), Lewis McManus, Scott Currie, D’Arcy Short, Ryan Stevenson, Joe Weatherley, James Fuller, Brad Wheal, Colin de Grandhomme, Tom Prest (-), Toby Albert (-), Mason Crane, Chris Wood.
