    Hat-Trick hero Tye and Man of the match Klinger lead Scorchers to victory

    Gloucestershire teammates Andrew Tye and Michael Klinger produced a magnificent display to help Perth Scorchers secure victory over Brisbane Heat and return them to the top of the Big Bash League table.

    An Andrew Tye hat-trick that left Brisbane Heat all out at the Gabba was the punctuation mark on a trademark defensive effort that set up the win for the Scorchers.  Tye ended the match with figures of 4-22 from 3.2 overs.

    Tye claimed the final two wickets in consecutive balls, having dismissed Jack Wildermuth with the final ball of the 18th over in the 27-run win over the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba.

    The bowler himself admitted he didn’t realise he had completed a hat-trick until he heard it from the ground announcer moments after the event.

    Klinger, who initially revealed he wasn't aware Tye had bowled a hat-trick ball, actually sent Tye back to his mark, with his concerns about the bowling over rate.  "I actually thought we still needed one more wicket and the umpire said we needed to finish within a minute,” Klinger recalled.

    “I said (to Tye) ‘get back to your mark’ and the batters started walking off. “No one really knew and then someone mentioned it and obviously everyone started getting a bit excited.”

    Tye’s hat-trick capped off a successful evening for the Scorchers who returned to top spot with the victory.

    It was a strong performance from Tye, but one that reflected a combined effort across the whole team, with four bowlers taking multiple wickets in defence of 5-156, having been sent in to bat by Brisbane.

    Earlier, Player of the Match and stand-in Scorchers' skipper Michael Klinger anchored his side's innings with another captain's knock of 81 off 54 balls, with six fours and two maximums.
