Wales Under 12s v Gloucestershire Under 12s (at Newport CC) June 19

Gloucestershire U12s 147-7 (40 overs)

Wales U12s 100 all out (30. 4overs)

Gloucestershire U12s won by 47 runs

Gloucestershire Under 12 celebrated their new sponsorship deal with Aimteq Energy Management with a comprehensive 47 run win over Wales.

Harvey Jupp (Poulton) was the star of the show with a brilliant 5-31 as the visitors maintained their unbeaten start to the season.

His devastating spell – supported by Matt Brewer (2-21) (Bristol) - saw Wales lose their last seven wickets for just 47 runs as they fell well short of their 147 run target.

Having won the toss and chosen to bat, Gloucestershire were reduced to 11-2 as both George Paterson (Brislington)and Brewer fell early on.

But Theo Hayward (Great Rissington) and Jonnie Gunn (Poulton) repaired the situation with an excellent stand of 51 before the former was caught behind for 32. Gunn held the innings together with a stylish 47 made from 87 deliveries that included four boundaries. Jupp (9) provided good support, sharing in a partnership of 38 with Gunn before Josh Gray (16) (Poulton) and Sujan Canagarajah (18 not out) (Stoke Bishop) boosted the Gloucestershire total to 147 with some aggressive stroke-play in the final overs.

In reply Wales started well but lost their first wicket for 18 following the introduction of Canagarajah.  However Andrady (23) and Smalle (20) were untroubled in taking to the score to 44-1 before the introduction of skipper Brewer just before the first drinks break. He had Andrady caught at slip by Theo Hayward in his first over. After drinks fellow leg-spinner Harvey Jupp joined Brewer in the attack and in his 3rd over picked up two wickets in three balls to reduce Wales to 63-4.

Brewer then picked up another wicket and Jupp skittled the Welsh middle order, finishing with county career best figures of 5-31 from his eight over spell.

Wales now appeared to be on their knees at 87-8 and Gloucestershire duly completed the win thanks to a run out and a wicket for Alex Sharam (Cheltenham).

The Under 12s victory was secured in their new shirts bearing the name of Cirencester-based software and electronics company Aimteq Energy Management.
