Gloucestershire is delighted to announce the signing of all-rounder Curtis Campher on a short-term deal.
The Ireland international joins up with Gloucestershire ahead of the final Metro Bank One Day Cup group stage match against Leicestershire in Bristol on Wednesday 14th August. The 25-year-old will also be eligible to play in both the quarter-final and semi-final of the competition should Gloucestershire progress to the knockout stages.
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Campher played for South Africa u19s before moving to Ireland in early 2020 and going on to make his international debut for Ireland against England in July 2020. In the four years that have followed, Campher has made 37 ODI, 56 T20I and six Test appearances for his country. An accomplished all-rounder who was part of Ireland’s recent T20 World Cup campaign, Campher has scored more than 2,000 runs and has taken 65 international wickets across all three formats of the game.
Campher has previous experience of the Metro Bank One Day Cup having played five matches for Somerset during last season’s tournament. The Dublin resident has an impressive List A record having scored 1,604 runs at an average of 33.41 and taken 55 wickets from 64 appearances. He also has 1,294 T20 runs and 65 wickets to his name from 89 matches.
An established franchise player, Campher most recently played for Bangla Tigers Mississauga in the Global T20 Canada league and in his last outing earlier this month, took 4/17 off three overs to help his side to victory.
Mark Thorburn, interim Head Coach at Gloucestershire, said: “We’re delighted to have Curtis join us for the closing stages of the Metro Bank One Day Cup. Curtis brings with him a huge amount of international experience and is a fantastic addition to the squad for tomorrow’s match against Leicestershire.”
