Gloucestershire promoted to Division One
26 September 2019
Gloucestershire have been promoted to Division One of the Specsavers County Championship after both matches in Bristol and Durham were called off on the final day.
Finishing in third place in Division two with a total of 182 points, Gloucestershire will feature in the premier division of First-class cricket in England for the first time since 2004.
The first innings had yet to be finished when play was brought to a close before a ball had been bowled on day four - Graeme van Buuren and Ben Charlesworth putting in a stellar performance on day three with a partnership of 151 to lift The Shire to the brink of promotion.
Richard Dawson's side won five and drew six of their fourteen matches in the Championship which was enough to see them finish 15 points ahead of their nearest rivals Glamorgan.
