Gloucestershire Pre-Season Fixtures Announced
25 January 2023
Gloucestershire Cricket is pleased to announce pre-season fixtures ahead of the 2023 season. Glos will start their build-up to the new season by hosting Worcestershire for a T20 double header on 20th March before an intrasquad T20 at the Seat Unique Stadium on 22nd March.
The Shire will then head to face Hampshire in a two-day friendly at the Ageas Bowl and will then welcome Somerset to the Seat Unique Stadium for a three-day warm-up match starting on 31st March.
Gloucestershire Cricket Performance Director Steve Snell said: "We have tried to ensure we are giving the players a varied preparation for the 2023 season. We have some T20 cricket booked in for the first week to ensure the guys can be competitive and practice some shorter format skills.
“We play four games in the opening week and we hope to give everybody a bit of a run out to practice our T20 skills and give the guys the chance to bat, bowl, field, and get back into competitive cricket.”
Snell continued: “We then have two really strong fixtures to help us get back into red-ball cricket. We face Hampshire away and then we host a strong Division One outfit in Somerset at the Seat Unique Stadium before our first Championship game.
“This gives us a good chance to play a three-day game at home to help us prepare for the season ahead. One of the advantages of training in England is the conditions will be similar to what we will encounter at the start of April and with this in mind, I believe we will be in great shape for the 2023 season.”
