Gloucestershire looking to bounce back in the YB40 v Leicestershire

12 August 2013

Gloucestershire will be looking to bounce back from Sunday’s defeat to Somerset when they host Leicestershire in a Yorkshire Bank 40 Group C game at the Bristol County Ground on Tuesday 13 August.

Victory is pretty essential for Michael Klinger’s side if Gloucestershire are to retain a good chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.

Klinger said: “We are going to need to win three of our last four games and that is what we will set out to do.

“Somerset was not a must-win game, but losing makes it harder for us to qualify as group winners.

“We are still very much in contention, but the pressure is now on and it is fair to say we are going to have to beat Leicestershire and Middlesex if we want to stay in the race.”

Gloucestershire were well beaten by Leicestershire in their opening group game, but an unbeaten run of six matches followed prior to Sunday’s setback at Taunton.

Gloucestershire played two spinners, Ed Young and on-loan Tom Smith, in that game, but are set to play an extra seamer against Leicestershire. Young has dropped out of a 13-man squad, with David Payne, Craig Miles and Matt Taylor in contention to take his place.

Gloucestershire (from): Klinger (capt), Marshall, Dent, A Gidman, Cockbain, Howell, Fuller, W Gidman, Roderick, Smith, Payne, Miles and M Taylor.

The gates open at 11.45 am and tickets will be available on the day. Match commences at 1.45 pm.
