Gloucestershire launches its first LGBTQ+ Supporters Group

28 March 2023

Gloucestershire Cricket is excited to announce the launch the Club’s first ever LGBTQ+ supporters group.

The newly formed network of Glos supporters is open to all members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as LGBTQ+ allies. An ally is someone who is not LGBTQ+ themselves but wants to show their support to others in the group.

By launching this group, Gloucestershire hopes to provide the opportunity for more people from a range of different backgrounds to come together and share in their love of cricket.

The LGBTQ+ Supporters Group will be supported by Out 4 Cricket, a new Community Interest Company who work with and support the LGBTQ+ community and stakeholders in cricket to create inclusive environments that increase community participation through education, advocacy, research, promotion and resources.

More information about Out 4 Cricket can be found on their website here.

Throughout the 2023 season, Gloucestershire will support the LGBTQ+ community in a number of ways, including a dedicated fixture during Pride month. This year, we will be celebrating Pride and the LGBTQ+ community during our Vitality Blast match against Sussex Sharks on Thursday 22nd June.

We are also looking to support Out 4 Cricket in an inaugural cricket tournament which provides a focus on showcasing and celebrating LGBTQ+ inclusion in cricket, and each team will be made up of members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.

Tournament details:

Date – Sunday 11th June

Venue - Sutton Coldfield Cricket Club, B75 7RS

Format - Likely to be T10 or 100 format (tbc on team numbers)

The tournament is open to all skill levels.
