Gloucestershire Exiles donate to the Girls Player Pathway
26 February 2025
Gloucestershire Cricket is delighted to announce that Gloucestershire Exiles have donated £3,000 to the Girls' Player Pathway.
Following their annual general meeting at Lord’s, the society presented Chair Peter Matthews with a £5,000 cheque, £3,000 of which will be exclusively used for the 2025 Girls Winter Pathway.
The donation comes after Gloucestershire Women embark on their debut season as a Tier 2 team after the ECB revamped the Women’s domestic cricketing structure.
In recent months, the Girls Pathway has transitioned from the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation to being contained within the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club umbrella to run alongside the Boys Pathway for the first time in the Club’s history.
The programme provides a structured, yet adaptable environment designed to help emerging talent thrive. The Club is committed to producing cricketers capable of excelling at the highest levels of the women’s game while also building a lifelong connection to cricket.
Speaking on the donation to the Girls Pathway, Gloucestershire Exile and Board Member Mark Brunt, said:
“The Gloucestershire Exiles have always looked to support the County’s young talent and its development, so with the changing landscape of Women’s Domestic Cricket within England and Wales we could not think of a more appropriate or worthy location for the donation to go.
"We are hugely excited about the expansion of the Women’s game and for Gloucestershire to have a formal women’s team and Pathway.
"This donation is a show of our support for the Club and the Girls Player Pathway, and of our excitement for the Gloucestershire Women’s maiden campaign.”
Head of Talent Pathways Laura Charles-Price provided an in-depth interview on the impact of the donation on the Girls Player Pathway:
For the last 50 years, the Gloucestershire Exiles have been a part-social, part-fundraising society boasting a membership of several hundred Gloucestershire supporters from across the country and even around the world.
