Gloucestershire Cricket’s pathway teams set off on tour of Sri Lanka
18 February 2022
Gloucestershire Cricket’s girls and boys Academy teams have travelled to Sri Lanka today for a two-week tour in which they will play five matches against local opposition.
The girls county age group squad, led by the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation (GCF), and the Club’s squad of 15 boys, will spend 12 days in the South Asian country between 15 February and 27 February. The tour will give the up and coming pathway players, whose ages range between 15 and 18-years-old, the chance to test themselves against overseas opposition in hot and humid weather conditions.
The party of talented youngsters are accompanied on the trip by Gloucestershire Cricket’s Head of Talent Pathway, Tim Hancock, and his colleague, Paul Muchall, a boys pathway Coach. GCF Chief Executive Steve Silk, ex-England international and current Western Storm player, Fran Wilson, and her fellow Western Storm teammate, Mollie Robbins, have also joined the squad on the tour of Sri Lanka.
Each team will play five matches against a variety of native teams during the tour, and both will take part in headline fixtures at the renowned Galle International Ground; a regular venue for international cricket.

“Thank you to our sponsors Walker Logistics, Bristol Fire and Astra Security, for their incredible support in helping us give these players such brilliant opportunities.”
In between competitive action and team training sessions, both squads will have the privilege of visiting a turtle hatchery, a wood carving factory and will experience a river boat safari.
The tour will also be the first chance for Gloucestershire’s boys pathway to wear their brand new New Balance playing kit, which has been sponsored by Walker Logistics, Bristol Fire and Astra Security.
