Appointed as Gloucestershire Cricket’s Honorary Treasurer
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that John Hollingdale has been appointed as the Club’s next Honorary Treasurer. He will succeed Tony Elgood who, under the Club’s Constitution, is stepping down from the role having served two 3 year terms. John, who was co-opted onto the Club’s Executive Board on 25 January, will formally begin his term of office at the Club’s Annual General Meeting on Monday 25 April.
John, who is married with four grown up children (and eight grandchildren) is Bristol born and bred. He is a keen sports fan and a lifelong supporter of Gloucestershire. John, who enjoys long distance walking and cycling, also plays golf, tennis and badminton.
He is a retired chartered accountant and ex-partner of Deloittes, Hollingdales and through successive takeovers of Kidsons and then Baker Tilly. He is Chairman of Space Engineering Services Limited, a national refrigeration company based in Bristol, and is the current Treasurer of the SS Great Britain and Chairman of We Care and Repair, a local charity.
John was educated at Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital School in Bristol and at Keble College, Oxford. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1975. He is also an Arbitrator and has acted on many arbitration appointments over the last fifteen years.
Commenting on his appointment, John said: “I am delighted to be joining Gloucestershire as its Treasurer at such an exciting time for the Club. As a Bristolian, I am keen to support my local community using the business skills I have developed in my career and this will be a wonderful opportunity for me to combine work and pleasure.”
Club Chairman, Roger Cooke, said: “I am very pleased that John has joined the Board and agreed to become our Treasurer. Tony has done an outstanding job over the 6 years he has filled the Treasurer role and will be a tough act to follow, but I have no doubt that John will do a great job."
Tony Elgood added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as the Club’s Treasurer. It has been an interesting period as we went through the ground development. The Club is now well positioned to build on what we have achieved and I wish John all the best in his new role.”
