The Club’s existing YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, and BlueSky platforms will continue to feature content covering both the Men’s and Women’s teams, ensuring followers on these channels receive a well-rounded view of Gloucestershire's Men's and Women's teams, as well as important Club-related news in 2025.
The dedicated Gloucestershire Women’s social media accounts will share content from Monday 24 February. On the same day, the Club will make a special announcement regarding the Women’s team, adding further excitement to what promises to be a landmark year for women’s cricket in the county.
The launch of independent social media channels aligns with Gloucestershire Cricket’s recent awarding of Tier 2 status in England and Wales' newly restructured women’s domestic cricket framework.
Under the new system, set to commence in 2025, Gloucestershire will compete alongside Derbyshire, Glamorgan, Kent, Leicestershire, Middlesex, Northamptonshire, Sussex, Worcestershire, and Yorkshire in Tier 2 competitions. The format will include both 50-over and 20-over matches, with dates and times available on our dedicated fixture page.
The introduction of a new three-tier structure represents a significant investment in the women’s game, with annual funding set to rise by £8 million by 2027, bringing total investment in women’s domestic cricket to approximately £19 million per year. Additionally, a new knockout cup competition featuring teams from all three tiers will see fixtures played at major venues, further elevating the visibility and prestige of the women’s domestic game.
Gloucestershire Cricket is excited to embark on this new chapter and encourages fans to follow the new social media channels for all the latest news, match updates, and exclusive content. More details on the team’s upcoming season and competition structure will be shared next week.
