Gloucestershire Cricket – COVID-19 Statement
17 March 2020
Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and following the advice of the Government, Gloucestershire Cricket has decided to take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the players, staff and all that may come into contact with the Club.
As a result, the 150th anniversary year kit launch that was due to take place on 30 March will no longer go ahead. The Club has made the decision based on the relevant health authorities and experts who advise against the unnecessary gathering of crowds. Everyone who has purchased tickets will be fully refunded.
Gloucestershire Cricket staff (including the players) have now been instructed to work from home, with extra measures having been taken to enable all office-based staff to work remotely. In addition, Academy and Junior cricket activities, together with all bookings received for the Bristol Cricket Centre, have been postponed until further notice.
BS7 Gym, which is located at the Bristol County Ground, has been closed with immediate effect, and until further notice.
Preparations are in place for Members to receive their 2020 membership packs ahead of the season; this mail out will be slightly delayed, but we look forward to sending the packs out in due course.
Discussions with the ECB are ongoing for all First-Class cricket clubs, to ensure a consistent approach is taken, and further clarity will be provided on the 2020 season in the coming days. In what is a fast-moving situation, the Club is committed to keeping you updated throughout, and would like to thank all supporters for their understanding and to wish everyone well during these very difficult times.
