26 November 2013

Gloucestershire supporters can look forward to an exciting summer of cricket in 2014.

We have four home Friday night NatWest T20 BLAST fixtures scheduled at the Bristol County Ground with two T20 fixtures being played at the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival. The T20 campaign kicks off when we welcome old rivals Somerset to the Bristol County Ground on Friday 16 May. This fixture will undoubtedly draw a large crowd and is the only occasion the two teams will meet!

Gloucestershire’s 2014 bid for LV= County Championship honours will begin with a home fixture at the Bristol County Ground when we welcome Hampshire on Sunday 13 April. With the majority of our home LV= County Championship matches starting on a weekend, this will be a great opportunity to enjoy days out with the whole family.

In 2014 fans will be able to enjoy the new one day 50 over format – which takes place during the school summer holidays. The Royal London One-Day Cup gets underway on Sunday 27 July when Gloucestershire welcome Northamptonshire to the College Ground in Cheltenham.

The world famous Cheltenham Cricket Festival, which is again sponsored by Brewin Dolphin, gets underway on Monday 14 July with a four-day LV= County Championship match v Derbyshire. This will be followed by a T20 clash against Surrey on Friday 18 July. The West Coast v East Coast T20 rivalry continues with a match v Essex on Sunday 20 July. The LV= County Championship campaign resumes on Monday 21 July with a 4 day local derby match v Worcestershire. The last match of the 2014 Festival is our inaugural 50 over match v Northamptonshire to be played on Sunday 27 July (as mentioned above).

The “Jewel in the Crown” for 2014 will be the return of International cricket to the Bristol County Ground when Gloucestershire Cricket play host to England v India in a One Day International on Bank Holiday Monday, 25 August. Tickets for this sought after match are already selling fast, so make sure you don’t miss out!!

Chief Executive, Will Brown, said: “It is great to have our fixtures confirmed for 2014.

“We are very excited that NatWest T20 BLAST matches are to be played predominantly on a Friday evening and are confident that these matches will prove to be an even bigger hit with our supporters and with two T20 fixtures scheduled during the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival - on what is a small outfield – our fans will be able to get even closer to the action.

“For 2014, we have introduced a brand new membership category – Twenty20 Plus - this allows entry to all home group stage T20 matches, PLUS entry to LV= County Championship and 50 Over County Cup group stage matches on weekend days. That’s at least 14 days of cricket for only £89!

“We also have a 4-day match against Worcestershire - our northern neighbours – to look forward to at this year’s Festival. The remaining fixtures see us take on Derbyshire, Surrey, Essex and Northamptonshire respectively – all these clubs are good opponents so we are pleased.

“2014 promises to be a landmark year for Gloucestershire Cricket. Our ground redevelopment project will be completed and we are welcoming back International cricket to the Bristol County Ground for the first time in 3 years. England v India is a great draw and we are confident this match will be a sell out.

Gloucestershire Cricket membership packages, which include all home games, are on sale now via the Club website. Adult membership is just £193.00. We also have a brand new Twenty20 Plus membership for only £89.00 with Junior membership priced at £17.00 (prices quoted include Early Bird discount which is available until 10 January 2014)
