Gloucestershire Cricket announce new signing “Poochadelic”

4 July 2013

As part of Gromit Unleashed, Gloucestershire Cricket now has its very own Gromit housed outside of BS7 Gym at the Bristol County Ground (no. 63 on the Gromit Trail) courtesy of sponsor, Linden Homes.

The artist who was commissioned to produce “Poochadelic” is Lisa Hassell, who is the founder and Creative Director of Inkygoodness.  Lisa, who lives in Birmingham, is passionate about character design and low brow art, she is a self-confessed internet addict; trawling blogs, websites and flickr for creative talent.  Her connections within the illustration and design community fuel her work as a design writer; covering illustration and industry trends.

When asked about how she came up with the inspiration for her design, Lisa said: “As soon as I heard about the Gromit Unleashed project I got really excited about the prospect of getting involved.  I had followed the WOW! Gorillas project (2011) full of admiration for the artists involved, and the challenge of painting a super-sized Gromit was too good an opportunity to pass up, and I was absolutely thrilled to find out my design had been chosen.  My artwork is often inspired by nature; colourful arrangements of swirling lines, organic shapes and contrasting patterns and textures. I work intuitively, often letting my pen wander across the page.  I like to have fun with the creative process.  The main challenge for this project was to create a design that could be scaled up, without losing too much detail – and something that could be reproduced in a short time frame.  It was an intense three weeks of painting to get my design complete, with a few sleepless nights near the end – but totally worth it for such a good cause.  It's a huge honour and personal achievement for me to be involved and I look forward to visiting Bristol this summer to follow the Gromit trail!”

“Poochadelic,” who will be with us until 8 September 2013 has been kindly sponsored by the Club’s house-building partner, Linden Homes.

Linden Homes offers new homes and properties throughout the country. They were named ‘Housebuilder of the Year’ at the Building Awards and ‘Best Large Housebuilder’ at the What House Awards 2012.  Click here for more information on Linden Homes’ current development at the Bristol County Ground
