Gloucestershire confirm squad departures
22 September 2023
Gloucestershire Cricket can today announce that four players will leave the club at the end of the 2023 season.
Tom Lace, Will Naish, Paul van Meekeren and Jared Warner will all leave Gloucestershire when their contracts expire.
Seamer Paul van Meekeren signed for Glos in 2021 and took a total of 47 wickets across all formats including an impressive 17 in this season’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup as the club reached the semi-finals for the first time since 2015.
Tom Lace leaves the club after three full seasons and 28 appearances across all formats. Supporters will long remember his brilliant 118 against Hampshire during the 2021 Cheltenham Cricket Festival.
Jared Warner joined Gloucestershire from Yorkshire taking 5 first-class wickets and 8 List A wickets during his three years in Bristol, while Will Naish featured in the T20 tourist matches against a Sri Lanka Development XI and New Zealand in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
On the four departures, Head Coach Dale Benkenstein, said:
"We'd like to thank Paul, Tom, Jared and Will for their contributions to Gloucestershire during their time with the Club. They’ve been great to work with during my time here, and it’s been a pleasure to get to know them.
During this season in particular, Paul's wickets in the One-Day Cup were crucial in helping us reach the semi-final, and we wish him all the best for the upcoming World Cup with the Netherlands.
"All four players, along with their families, are welcome back at the Club at any time, and we wish them all the best whatever the future holds."
