Gloucestershire CCC announce new Chief Executive

13 June 2013

Following a rigorous selection process, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club has appointed a successor to Tom Richardson, who is leaving the Club at the end of August 2013 having been at the helm as Chief Executive for 12 years.

William Brown, 37, will join Gloucestershire Cricket on Monday 2 September 2013.

Will joins Gloucestershire from Betfair, a leading online sports betting company where he has been part of the UK and Ireland management team since 2008.  As part of a general management role he ran Betfair’s sponsorship of the “Test Match grounds" and also their partnerships with the ECB and the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA).  Prior to Betfair, Will also held positions at the Lawn Tennis Association and Cricinfo and brings with him a wealth of sports industry and commercial knowledge.  Educated at King Edward’s School in Bath and Oxford Brookes University he is a lifelong Gloucestershire fan.

Commenting on his appointment, Will Brown said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Gloucestershire CCC at such an exciting time for the Club.  With the new ground, and all the hard work from Tom Richardson and his team, the future looks bright and I look forward to helping develop this success both on and off the field.”

Chairman of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, Roger Cooke, said: “I am very pleased that Will is taking over at such an exciting time for the Club.  His arrival will coincide with the opening of our rebuilt Bristol Pavilion, and all the commercial and membership opportunities that will represent."
