Gloucestershire captain pleased with performance

8 June 2013

Gloucestershire captain Michael Klinger said there were plenty of positives to be taken from the drawn game with Glamorgan at the County Ground.

Gloucestershire collapsed from 456-4 to 478 all out in the morning, establishing a first-innings advantage of 30, before the Welsh county batted out the remainder of the game to make 176-2.

The main damage was done by Glamorgan's Australian pace bowler Michael Hogan, who took 5-13 this morning to finish with a career-best haul of 7-92.

Reflecting on his side's fourth draw in seven County Championship matches, Klinger said: "There were a lot of positives. Obviously, Craig Miles with another five wickets in the first innings was one of them. Then there was good batting from our top four.

"Our innings didn't go to plan this morning. We'd like to have got 120 to 150 lead and put them under a bit of pressure, but losing that 20 overs last night affected that plan, because otherwise we would have had about a 100 lead this morning and also a tiring Glamorgan attack probably wouldn't have come out as fresh today.

"Also, Hogan showed his class as he has done all year. But our middle and lower order need to learn from that and be better to get through those spells."
