Glos trio make PCA top 10

29 April 2016

Jack Taylor, Liam Norwell and Chris Dent have all made the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Rankings after the first three rounds of the Specsavers County Championship.

Allrounder Taylor, opening batsman Dent and seamer Liam Norwell occupy seventh, eighth and ninth places respectively following their impressive starts to the season.

Dent is currently the leading runscorer in the country with 407 runs at an average of over 100. His outstanding form has seen him score centuries in consecutive matches – 180 v Derbyshire and 138 not out v Worcestershire.

Taylor has been in good nick with bat and ball and made his second First Class hundred - 105 from just 103 balls - in this week’s draw with Worcestershire at The Brightside Ground, Bristol.

Like his team mates, Liam Norwell has also recorded a century this season – although his may have been slightly less predictable.

Coming in as a nightwatchman against Derbyshire last week he scored 102 - his first hundred at any level of the game.  He followed up by taking six wickets in the match against Worcestershire, including three in the top four in the second innings. Only two bowlers have taken more wickets than him in Division 2 in 2016.

The PCA MVP, which was introduced in 2007, is designed by the players to find the cricketers who really win matches by combining all aspects of a player’s performance to give a ranking in relation to his peers.
