Glos legend Mike Procter "making steady progress" after heart surgery
25 February 2022
Former Gloucestershire player Mike Procter is "making steady progress" with his recovery after undergoing heart surgery on Monday 14 February.
After spending ten days in intensive care, Mike has been moved to a ward at a hospital in Durban, South Africa, where he had the double bypass operation and is expected stay for at least another four weeks.
The ex-Glos captain and legendary all-rounder is said to be in a "chipper" mood following the procedure, and is predicted to make a full recovery.
In a statement issued yesterday (Thursday 24 February), the Mike Procter Foundation said: "Since our last update, Mike has continued to make steady progress and as of today is out of intensive care and is on a 'normal' hospital ward.
"He is his usual chipper self once again and is looking forward to the next stage of his recovery when he can be discharged from hospital and is allowed to continue his rehabilitation in the comfort of his own home.
"Mike thanks everyone for their concern over the last couple of weeks and is looking forward to catching up with friends and supporters in both South Africa and in the UK during the coming months."
Everyone at Gloucestershire Cricket has Mike in their thoughts and wishes him well for the remainder of his recovery period.
