Glos launches Summer Gardening Club at the Seat Unique Stadium
20 July 2022
Gloucestershire Cricket is very excited to be launching a brand new gardening club this summer in the Community Growing Space, which is small garden based on site at the Seat Unique Stadium.
This area has fast become a favourite feature at the venue with members, supporters and staff, and the Club is thrilled to be offering even more people the chance to take advantage of our green growing space.
Created from upcycled materials, found within the stadium, the growing space consists of three large planters, a growing wall and a wildflower bed. Throughout the academic year, children from the neighbouring Brunel Field Primary School have been working hard each week in their after school gardening club and have recently seen the rewards of their efforts. After a summer of planting and nurturing, the garden has now produced its first ever harvest!
Throughout August, the club is introducing a summer gardening club, which will be open to all residents, members and supporters. The sessions will run every Tuesday in August, with the first session being on Tuesday 2 August. You don’t have to sign up, you can just come along each week.
A professional gardener will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. This could be about your own garden, give advice on what’s best to plant at each time of the year and to give you some more general gardening knowledge!
Drop in sessions will be from 2pm-3pm with junior sessions from 3pm-4pm. Our Thatchers Café will be open throughout, so you can enjoy a refreshing drink after your hard work! Parents are encouraged to enjoy a coffee in our Thatchers café, whilst the children enjoy getting their hands dirty and learning all about the benefits of homegrown produce!
