Glos Cricket to star on BBC Countryfile's Summer Special - with audio

8 August 2014

Gloucestershire Cricket put presenters from the BBC’s Countryfile through their paces in a special episode of the show that will be broadcast this Sunday.

Hosts of the popular country affairs programme including TV’s favourite farmer Adam Henson turned their arm over in the club’s inflatable bowling cage before playing a match against a guest XI that included an England cricketing great.

To find out who, tune into BBC One at 8pm for the Countryfile Summer Special.

The game - which featured a number of famous faces - took place at the Cotswold County Show at Cirencester.

Coaches from the Gloucestershire Cricket Board were on hand all day to man the bowling cage – which features a speedometer- and offer top tips to the public and Countryfile presenters alike.

People that tested their skills ranged from children to a lady in her seventies who hadn’t played cricket for half a century.

Roz Hutching, head of community engagement at Gloucestershire Cricket said: “We were really fortunate to be asked to take part in the Countryfile Summer Special.

“We had plenty of visitors testing how fast they can bowl. A couple of the presenters came along but unfortunately Adam Henson was beaten by his son!

“This is something we have been trying to do a lot more this season, to get out and about around the county - not just Bristol – and meet people and get them involved in cricket.”
