The 16-year-old from Dumbleton CC is one of eight players who will receive coaching and support to in order to help them become international cricketers in the future.

The Academy Squad and 14-strong England Women’s Senior Academy (EWSA) – which has also been announced – will take part in series of camps this winter and play competitive matches during the summer.

Dean Close pupil Danielle, has been selected after a season where she was part of the KIA Super League winning Western Storm squad and was named Gloucestershire Women’s bowler of the year after taking 18 wickets at an average of 11. She was also the side’s second highest runscorer with 334 at 30.36.

Gloucestershire Cricket Board (GCB) Women and Girls officer Lisa Pagett – who is also Western Storm manager – said: “It is fantastic news for Danni and we are delighted that she has been given this opportunity to further her development. She was awarded a Storm contract last year and hopefully that has given her a valuable insight into what what it takes to move to the next level. I hope she takes this opportunity with both hands and continues to work hard to develop her game.”

Both the EWSA and EWA will be overseen by Head Coach of the EWSA John Stanworth, supported by a team of coaches who will deliver across all levels of the England pathway.

Tom Smith and Gareth Breese will assist Stanworth in the day-to-day coaching requirements of the two programmes with various specialist coaches utilised throughout the winter to enhance the opportunities for players to develop.
