Get Involved In An International Summer Of Sport By Volunteering At Gloucestershire Cricket

Thanks to everyone who took part in our 2014 cricketeer programme. We will be releasing information on our 2015 programme soon.
Gloucestershire Cricket have started the search for Cricketeers – the volunteers who are going to help make the new Friday night NatWest T20 Blast cricket fixtures go off – well, like a rocket.
What’s more, Cricketeers will create an unforgettable match day experience when international sport comes to Bristol on August Bank Holiday and England face India in a One Day International (ODI).
“We’re so proud the only international sport being played in Bristol this year will be here at the Bristol County Ground and we now want people who are equally proud of the club to come and help us.” Chief Executive Will Brown says. “In the same way the Games Makers and Ashes Volunteers made those sporting events truly memorable for spectators we want fans to leave the Bristol County Ground itching to come back.”
Gloucestershire Cricket are looking for enthusiastic people who want to help put on an unforgettable summer of sport in Bristol. It’s not necessary to have an experience or knowledge of cricket – although it helps, but most importantly they want volunteers who love big sporting occasions and are excited about creating a festival atmosphere around Bristol.
“There are a whole range of roles we’re looking for Cricketeers to fill from volunteers to meet and greet people as they arrive at the Bristol County Ground to street performers and musicians dotted about the city to create a festival atmosphere.” Roz Hutchings, Head of Community Engagement explains. “We want Street Performers including circus acts, street theatre, magicians, comedians, jugglers, urban dancers, cheerleaders, acrobats, acoustic musicians, singers or buskers.”
“There are loads of benefits from becoming a Cricketeer.” Roz continues. “Not only will you get to be involved in a fantastic summer of sport in Bristol, every Cricketeer will be provided with full training plus at the end of the programme they’ll get to keep their kit, receive a certificate to show their participation and be given two tickets to come and enjoy at game at the Bristol County Ground.”
Steve Silk – Chief Executive of the Gloucestershire Cricket Board says: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people across the county to show their support for Gloucestershire Cricket. By signing up to be a Cricketeer, volunteers can play their part in improving the experience for existing cricket fans and give new supporters a fantastic first taste of live cricket. This can only help increase interest and participation in all levels of the game.”
Applications are now closed for Cricketeers for the 2014 season.
