Garrett selected for England Under 17 Super 4s

23 August 2015

Gloucestershire Academy batsman Jordan Garrett will go head-to-head with the best young players in the country at the annual England Development Programme (EDP) Under 17 Super 4s Competition.

The 16-year-old will represent the South West in the regional round-robin 50 over tournament at the National Cricket Performance centre in Loughborough.

Jordan will face teams from London and the East, the Midlands and the North in matches from August 25-29.

The games will take place in front of watching EDP coaches and selectors, including  EDP Chairman of Selectors, David Graveney.

He said: “The EDP Under-17s Super 4s competition is always a great occasion and the wealth of young talent coming through never ceases to amaze and excite in equal measure.  It’s a fantastic opportunity for the players to step out of their “county bubble” and challenge themselves in a different environment and a pressurised situation.”

Jordan, who hails from Oxfordshire, was part of the England U17  Squad that played Pakistan in Dubai earlier this year.

He made 50 against Surrey on his Second XI debut last April and has scored two half centuries this year – including 77 versus Somerset 2nds earlier this month. He also made history by amassing the highest individual score ever made by an Oxfordshire age group player, with 208 not out v Buckinghamshire Under 17s.

Gloucestershire also have a representative at the England Women’s Development Programme (EWDP) Super 3s event at Wellington College next week.

Alex Macdonald, who is currently on loan at Yorkshire from Glos will be hoping to catch the selectors eye having down well on a previous EWDP tour to Dubai.
