Fuller Back For Treatment On Hip Injury
6 February 2014
James Fuller is facing treatment for a hip problem, having returned early from his winter in New Zealand.
The pace bowler is back at the County Ground looking to solve a fitness problem that developed during what was otherwise a successful time in Auckland.
Director of Cricket John Bracewell said: “James finished last season with a knee injury and that has shifted to a hip, so he has come back from New Zealand early.
“He has always had a reasonably stiff hip area. We have had a report back from Auckland where he was their overseas player for the T20 competition and they did have the injury scanned.
“We will rescan it this week and than make a decision on what sort of treatment is necessary.
“The two games he missed for Auckland were for selection reasons, rather than injury, but there is quite a difference between playing a T20 competition spread over three months in New Zealand and coming back here to play 60-odd games spread over six months.”
In the eight games he did play for Auckland, James was the leading wicket-taker, notching 14 at an average of just 14.35, with an economy rate of 7.39. He also averaged 22 with the bat.
